Mel Ebersold

Melvin Benhard Ebersold was a native of South Bend, Indiana, and president of Picker Accessories. He was a member of the York City Council, 1986–1998; mayor pro tem of York, South Carolina, 1990–1998; and a member of the Catawba Regional Planning Commission, Catawba Regional Development Corporation, South Carolina Board of Regional Councils, and the Yorkville Historical Society. He was director of economic development for the City of York. At Abiding Presence Lutheran Church, he served on the church council and taught an adult Bible class. He was active in preserving the city’s historical district and helped restore McCelvey Center as the cultural center in York. Ebersold and his wife Grace made miniature versions of York’s historical buildings.
