Our Executive Board
A July 2025 note from our President Kelly McWhorter

Dear Members of the Yorkville Historical Society,

I hope this message finds you well and that you are enjoying the spirit of summer in our beautiful town. I want to take a moment to introduce our Executive Board.

My name is Kelly McWhorter, and I am honored to serve as your President. Though my husband and I have called York home for just five years, we’ve developed a deep love and appreciation for the charm, legacy, and historical significance of Historic Downtown York. I am deeply passionate about preservation and am committed to protecting the stories, structures, and spirit that define our community.

I’m proud to be joined by an exceptional team of dedicated individuals:

• Vice President Stacy Walker is a York native with deep roots in the community. Her knowledge and heartfelt connection to our town bring invaluable insight to our work. Stacy understands that our mission isn’t just about protecting historic buildings—it’s about preserving the identity and soul of York for future generations.

Secretary Jeanna Brandt is a talented professional who has made a significant impact despite being new to York. She and her husband have embraced our town enthusiastically, and Jeanna’s thoughtful contributions continue to strengthen our shared mission.

• Treasurer Dawn Meredith is a skilled, detail-oriented professional with a deep sense of responsibility. Her financial stewardship ensures our resources are managed wisely as we expand our outreach and programming.

Together, we are energized and ready to lead the Yorkville Historical Society into a new chapter. With your continued support, we look forward to honoring our past, engaging our present, and building a strong and vibrant future.

Our New Member Ambassador
A July 2025 note from our President Kelly McWhorter

I’m delighted to introduce Barb Fuesser as the Yorkville Historical Society’s new New Member Ambassador.

Barb has been a proud resident of York for over 30 years. She is a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who brings a deep love for our town and a wealth of experience to YHS. Her long-standing connection to the community, combined with her welcoming spirit, makes her the perfect person to help both new and existing members feel informed, involved, and inspired.

As our New Member Ambassador, Barb will be reaching out to welcome those who have recently joined our society—offering a friendly introduction, helpful resources, and opportunities to get engaged. She’ll also serve as a point of connection for existing members who want to become more active or learn more about what’s happening within the organization.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Barb to this role. We are so fortunate to have her as part of our board, and I know she’ll make a meaningful impact as we continue to grow and strengthen the Yorkville Historical Society.

* Message from our President, September 7,  2025 :

2025 Board Member Josh Mangum

Dear Members,

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our dear friend and dedicated Board Member of the Yorkville Historical Society, William Joshua “Josh” Mangum (May 12, 1983 – August 30, 2025). Josh was a gifted graphic designer, a devoted student of American history, and a kind, gentle spirit who left a lasting impact on our community and the Yorkville Historical Society. His creativity, warmth, and commitment to preserving history will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. At our General Membership Meeting on September 25, we will have a condolences book available for signatures. If you would like to write a personal letter or card for Josh’s family, please bring it to the meeting—we will collect them and ensure they are delivered with our love and sympathy.

Josh’s absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will continue to inspire our work and our mission as a Society.

Kelly McWhorter
