J. S. Moore House is Georgian architecture. Upstairs nearly all the pegged-joinery windows and other woodwork are original. It was built in 1829, bought for $3010 by John Starr Moore in 1844, and remained in the family for nearly 100 years. The second floor has been residential space and offices. The first floor was Allison & Bratton Drugs (1870s) and, later, small shops and the town U.S. Post Office. In the 1930s the first floor was expanded rearward for York Chevrolet. The Ivy Hill Shop was here from the 1980s to 2005. It is now Jasmine Café, Catering, & Gifts. Johnny Miller and Bobby McDowell extensively restored the upstairs, and your host Linda Ellington performed major first-floor renovation and improvements. It has been featured in Veranda magazine.

This wonderful property is for sale or lease. See this flyer for more information.
