The 1882 Building features a construction date medallion at the top of the front wall. It was built of handmade York County clay brick covered with stucco. The pilaster capitals on the storefront have a slight onion-dome shape that hints at Turkish design. This building was used for dry goods stores and other stores for 40 years, and in its early years was offices for Dr. Rufus Bratton. It became the White Rose Café in the 1930s, which continued into the 1970s. Dr. John Pratt’s offices were here from the 1950s to the 1980s. Upstairs apartments were created in 1986 during major restoration and improvements by Rita Heath. Your hosts are Wendell Hunt and Barry Turner-Hunt.
